Rafikul Islam obtained his B.Sc. (Mathematics), M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics) degrees from the University of Calcutta, and Ph.D. (Operations Research) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (1996). Presently, he is working as a Professor at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He served the university in various capacities such as Head of Department of Business Administration, Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences. Dr. Islam has taught many courses in Business and Information Technology both at undergraduate and master’s level; some of the courses taught are: Decision Science, Advanced Management Science, Quality Management, Operations Management, Business Statistics, Multivariate Data Analysis, Data Structures, C Programming Language, Computer Based Simulation and Modeling. He is a recipient of Best Researcher Award at the faculty level and Quality Research Award at the university level. Dr. Islam has published over 50 research papers in local as well as international referred journals. He has also authored three books in the area of Management Science. Four students have completed their PhD studies under his supervision. In addition to AMS, he is an Associate Editor of two International journals and member of Editorial Board of several International journals. He has attended international conferences in more than 15 countries. In particular, Dr. Islam was the chairperson of the organizing committee of the 12th International Symposium on the Analytic Hierarchy process held in 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His areas of research interest include: Multiple Criteria Decision Making, Quality Management, Operations Management, Analytic Hierarchy Process. He is a member of Malaysian Institute of Management and life member of Indian Society of Technical Education.
